Advancing Sustainable Crop Production and Food Security through IFPC Demo Farm Practices

SDG: 2: Zero hunger | Posted by: Jonel T. Alibasa | Posted: October 21, 2025

On June 14, 2024, the MSU Sulu College of Agriculture, through its Integrated Farming and Production Center (IFPC) Demo Farm, continued its mission of “unlocking the secrets to bountiful harvests” by showcasing sustainable crop production practices. The initiative highlights the importance of research-based farming techniques, organic inputs, and diversified planting systems that contribute to resilient food systems and improved agricultural outcomes. This effort directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by ensuring food security and nutrition, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through hands-on and research-driven learning for students, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting eco-friendly farming methods, SDG 13 (Climate Action) through climate-smart agricultural practices, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by encouraging sustainable land use and biodiversity conservation. The IFPC Demo Farm stands as a living laboratory where education, innovation, and sustainability converge to shape the future of agriculture in Sulu.
