Capacity Building on Mushroom Production Technology for Sustainable Livelihood and Food Security at MSU-Sulu IFPC

SDG: 2: Zero hunger | Posted by: Jonel T. Alibasa | Posted: October 21, 2025

On May 2, 2024, the MSU-Sulu College of Agriculture, through its Integrated Farming and Production Center (IFPC), engaged in a learning session on mushroom production technology, as Sir Johnny shared the step-by-step process with the team. Mushroom production offers a sustainable source of nutrition, income, and livelihood while utilizing agricultural by-products, making it a vital component of community-based farming systems. This initiative directly advances SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by diversifying food sources, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through hands-on training and knowledge transfer, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by creating livelihood opportunities, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through resource-efficient farming, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by promoting circular agriculture practices. Through this capacity-building effort, MSU-Sulu continues to champion sustainable innovations that empower both students and farmers toward resilient and inclusive agricultural development.
