College of Fisheries and MAFAR Sulu Launch Aquasilviculture and Eco-Tourism Project in Omar Municipality

November 8, 2024 — The Dean of the College of Fisheries, Prof. Hji. Ronaldo A. Ancheta, together with MAFAR Sulu, led by Provincial Director HJI Engr. Alfie Iribani, spearheaded the implementation of the Aquasilviculture and Eco-Tourism Project in Omar Municipality, funded by MAFAR-BARMM.The project aims to promote sustainable fisheries, environmental conservation, and community-based tourism while creating new livelihood opportunities for local residents. Through the integration of aquasilviculture and eco-tourism, the initiative fosters responsible resource management and environmental stewardship.
This program advances SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting inclusive and resilient community development and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by ensuring the sustainable use and conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems for long-term productivity and ecological balance.
