August 6, 2024 — The Dean of the College of Fisheries, Prof. Hji. Ronaldo A. Ancheta, together with the faculty members, joined a study tour in Dagupan City led by Dr. Westly Rivera Rosario, who provided an insightful walkthrough of the Patis Processing Area. The visit highlighted the production of patis, a traditional Filipino condiment that embodies the nation’s rich culinary heritage.Recognized for its distinctive flavor and cultural value, patis also presents great potential as an export commodity, showcasing the Philippines’ gastronomic excellence to the global market.
This initiative supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by promoting sustainable food production, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by emphasizing nutritious local products, and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning that enhances students’ and faculty’s understanding of traditional fishery-based products and innovation.
