December 6, 2024 — The Dean of the College of Fisheries, Prof. Hji. Ronaldo A. Ancheta, together with his faculty members, actively participated in the installation of three Payao units in the municipal waters of Patikul, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the livelihoods of local fisherfolk and supporting their families.Despite challenging conditions, the project was successfully implemented through the collaborative efforts of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Mindanao State University–Sulu (MSU-Sulu), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform–BARMM (MAFAR-BARMM), IMPL Sulu, and various Local Government Units (LGUs), with funding support from the Impl. Project Philippines.

This joint initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by providing livelihood opportunities, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering community resilience, and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by promoting sustainable fisheries management and marine resource conservation.
