MSU-Sulu SHS Celebrates Sci-Math Month 2024

On September 30, 2024, the MSU-Sulu Senior High School department conducted its Sci-Math Celebration with the theme “Sci-Math Partnership: To Promote the Significance of Scientific and Mathematical Knowledge in Different Aspects of Life”. With two clubs and three student' organizations namely MSU-Sulu SHS Supreme Student Council, STEM Strand Organization, GAS Strand Organization, Science Club, and Mathematics Club, the event kicked off at 7:00 a.m. with a walkathon around the campus with the students and BandCorp. Then, a prayer was delivered by Amsar Abbil, a student from GAS 1-11. The National Anthem was then led by Mrs. Jainalyn U. Aksan, one of the advisers of the Mathematics Club. The welcoming message was given by Ma’am Roslina J. Rahimulla, the Chairperson of Mathematics Club. After the opening remarks, a question-and-answer took place involving Mathematics h
and Science trivia questions, in which students competed for prepaid load as their reward.
The morning session focused on Mathematics activities, included various competitions such as Sudoku Battle, Quiz Bowl where each section had three participants for the Science and Mathematics’ trivia, and Rubik's Cube competition. Also, a Math Exhibit featuring the works of the STEM 11 students of Mrs. Rahimulla also took place.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, the spotlight shifted to the Science activities. Students participated in a Scientist Imitation contest, where eight participants (two per strand) brought famous scientists to life through their performances and speeches. A highlight of the day was the Building of the Science Invention contest or the Trashform contest, where students created innovative structures using recycled materials.
Moreover, the event concluded with an appreciation for the judges, awarding ceremony, and the closing remarks of Mrs. Maryjoy Busaña-Ibno, the Science Club adviser.
