MSU-Sulu SHS hosts Training-Workshop for SHS Teachers on Research Writing

With the purpose of equipping Senior High School teachers in 6 different schools in Sulu with the knowledge of writing research papers and introducing the IMRAD Format, the Mindanao State University Sulu SHS conducted a 2-day Training-Workshop headed by Mr. Abubakar J. Radjuni, the President of the Faculty Union and the Research Coordinator of MSU-Sulu SHS at the MSU-Sulu College of Health Sciences on September 6-7, 2024.
The first day commenced with a prayer led by Mr. Altamir Salamuddin, a faculty of MSU-Sulu SHS followed by the singing of the National Anthem and MSU-Sulu Hymnn through AVP. Then, Prof. Norman A. Abdurahman, the Director of the MSU-Sulu SHS Department, formally welcomed the participants with an opening remarks. Prof. Nagder J. Abdurahman, the MSU-Sulu Chancellor, graced the event with his presence and message, sharing the experiences of MSU-Sulu in research-making and other achievements. Thereafter, Ms. Nurennor J. Bahaluddin, a representative from the Researchers' Club, stated the House Rules to ensure the orderliness and inclusivity of the event. It was then followed by Mr. Abubakar J. Radjuni, who provided the training overview.
The first session began in the morning with Prof. Allen I. Talikan, the OIPP Director of MSU-Sulu, as the resource speaker. His discussion centred on the overview of the IMRAD format and Chapter 1, consisting of Topic Ideation and Formulation of Research questions and writing RRL. In the afternoon, the second session was spearheaded by Mr. Abubakar J. Radjuni, where he lectured on the Research Methodology of IMRAD format. Mr. Radjuni also provided information about the stages of thesis advising and paneling. The first day concluded with a reflection and a question-and-answer session.
The second day commenced with the 3rd resource speaker, Prof. Roslina J. Rahimulla, the Mathematics Club Chairperson. Prof. Rahimullah discussed the Data Analysis Interpretation and Discussion under Chapter 4.
In the afternoon, the MSU-Sulu SHS Department Secretary, Prof. Nurmini U. Supian, tackled Chapter 5 about the Writing of Conclusions and Recommendations. Afterwards, Mr. Abubakar J. Radjuni led the participants to the I-Lab of MSU-Sulu, where numerous computers were ready to be utilised in order for them to have empirical experiences in literature searches and readings.
Then, before the awarding of certificates, the participants had a few takeaways where they expressed their gratitude over the course of the training-workshop. The event concluded with the closing remarks of Mr. Mahmoudar J. Hassan, the MSU-Sulu SHS SSC Adviser.
Moreover, Ms. Nurlina M. Ahmad Mr. Almudzrin Arip were the masters of the ceremony, both MSU-Sulu SHS Faculty.
