Soil Testing and Laboratory Equipment Utilization for Sustainable Land Management and Agricultural Productivity
SDG: 2: Zero hunger | Posted by: Jonel T. Alibasa | Posted: October 21, 2025
On May 2, 2024, Doc. Juliet C. Bangi, Research Coordinator of MSU Main College of Agriculture, oriented the MSU-Sulu IFPC team on the proper use of the Soil Testing Kit (STK) and other laboratory equipment during their Lakbay Aral visit. The training emphasized the importance of soil analysis in determining nutrient status, guiding precise fertilizer application, and improving crop yield while safeguarding the environment. This initiative advances SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by ensuring better crop productivity, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through hands-on scientific training, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by strengthening agricultural research and technology application, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through efficient resource utilization, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by minimizing the overuse of chemical inputs, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by promoting sustainable soil management. Through this exposure, MSU-Sulu reinforces its commitment to integrating science-based approaches in agriculture, nurturing both productivity and sustainability.
