Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture through Collaborative Vermicast Harvesting at MSU-Sulu IFPC
SDG: 2: Zero hunger | Posted by: Jonel T. Alibasa | Posted: October 21, 2025
On May 13, 2024, the faculty of the MSU-Sulu College of Agriculture, in partnership with the Provincial Agriculturist Officer, Ma’am Vergie, successfully conducted a vermicast harvesting activity at the Integrated Farming and Production Center (IFPC). This collaborative effort highlights the integration of academic expertise and government support to advance sustainable farming practices. The initiative directly contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by promoting organic soil enrichment for higher yields, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through recycling organic waste into valuable inputs, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from waste, SDG 15 (Life on Land) by improving soil health and biodiversity, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strong institutional collaboration. By nurturing sustainable farming practices, MSU-Sulu reinforces its commitment to building resilient agricultural systems, empowering local farmers, and advancing environmental stewardship for a food-secure future.
